As the Malawi general election has started across the country, polling stations are filled with long queues as nearly six million voters wait to cast their ballots.
One of the polling stations in the commercial Blantyre had people arriving to vote as early as 3am and by 6am people started voting.
According to officials at the station the whole voting process is progressing well despite a few problems that were faced of shortage of vote transfers.
“The turn out as well as progress are quite impressive. There has been enough security since yesterday and it has been so peaceful, we haven’t encountered any violence,” said Benjamin Muyaya one of the Electoral Commission officials at Blantyre Tax Office polling station.
